About Us
Our story
The Prakongruk Palliative Care Unit was established to provide palliative care to patients facing life-threatening illness and to their families. We believe that good medicine is not only about treating disease — it is also about relieving suffering, preserving human dignity, and standing beside patients and families through every stage of life.
The name “Prakongruk” (ประคองรักษ์) reflects the heart of our work: to sustain and support with love, understanding, and deep respect for the value of every life.
Our philosophy of care
We care for the person, not only the disease. Quality of life, comfort, and each patient’s own wishes are the highest goals of our care.
- Systematic relief of pain and distressing symptoms, drawing on specialist expertise in pain medicine and palliative care
- Holistic care that addresses physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs
- Respect for each patient’s decisions, through open communication and advance care planning
- Families are part of the unit of care — during illness and through bereavement
Our interdisciplinary team
Our team includes physicians specialising in palliative care, family medicine, and pain medicine, palliative care nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and spiritual care providers — all working together with the patient and family at the centre.
